Dr. Hylton Mayer


Hylton Mayer, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor and Associate Attending Physician in the Glaucoma Service, completed his M.D. at the Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo, in 2002; his Internship at the Hospital of St. Raphael, in New Haven, in 2003; and his Residency in Ophthalmology at the Yale New Haven Medical Center in 2006. Dr. Mayer finished a Glaucoma Fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale from 2006 to 2007 under the direction of Dr. James C. Tsai and M. Bruce Shields. Dr. Mayer will also be working on a new research project with Dr. Tsai in collaboration with Dr. Josephine Hoh, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and Ophthalmology and Visual Science, to better understand the genetic and molecular analysis of glaucoma. Dr. Mayer is actively pursuing innovative technologies for the safe and effective medical and surgical treatment of cataracts and glaucoma.

He is currently active member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Connecticut Glaucoma Society, and American Medical Association.
